Apparently they’re a thing. Sharp! And the pizza was delicious.

What advantage are they purported to offer over the typical rolling pizza cutter?

I found it a lot easier to cut with the scissors, than with the rolling cutter. Bonus: you can probably use the nice scissors in your knife block; you don’t need special scissors.

I'm going against the grain. We've been using scissors on pizza for a long time. Today I bought our first rolling pizza cutter. Ha!

@Nina That rolling cutter would be great for a cornmeal crust pizza! I love the cornmeal crust pizza from Dové Vivi in NE PDX, sometimes get it parbaked to finish at home. Scissors would not be effective. I’m not throwing away my roller!

We have regular kitchen shears, but have not tried them with pizza. The fact that the blades come apart would definitely be an advantage for cleaning off dried cheese.

Tip: make sure to let a hot pizza rest for a few minutes before cutting, so the cheese solidifies a bit.

@AdagioM yes! And also Costco has a veggie pizza with a cauliflower based crust that is really good, and similar. The crust is thin and almost cracker-like. The pizza itself doesn't scream "pizza" but it's a very tasty combination of veggies nonetheless. That's actually what inspired me to buy the roller.

@Nina Ooooh! Is that pizza frozen? Name? (assuming you bought this in PDX?) I have a Costco run coming up soon, because I’m out of Kirkland Prosecco…

Our Costco used to carry a name brand (Milton's?) cauliflower crust pizza, but I think now it's a Kirkland Signature product. Haven't tried it.

I still prefer a knife (santoku), to cut slices depending on the arrangement of the toppings.
