Is there anyone here who didn't want a treehouse when they were a kid? It's not to late to take advantage of these opportunities to indulge your inner child.

      Awesome!

For some reason, treehouses are super common around here. They are in backyards all over the place, and some are quite elaborate. I never saw them where we used to live.

As an aside, there's a treehouse in the backyard at our rental house. I made the owner put a lock on it when we moved in because I didn't want someone to "move in" back there without out our knowledge. I also made the owner remove the trampoline (since it would be a hazard in a bad storm).

I'm sure they thought I was nuts. 😅

How is a trampoline more hazardous in a storm?

Was your yard fenced? A trampoline is an attractive nuisance, and definitely a hazard. I love jumping on them, though.

This must have been the reaction of the owners! I’m sure they thought I was crazy. But this is the Midwest and besides thunderstorms, there are tornadoes here as a well.

Most trampolines sit up off the ground of course, but this one looked to have a particularly high clearance, probably more than 3 feet. A storm with high winds could flip it up and blow the trampoline anywhere. Sure it’s not our house, but if the house were damaged because of something that, we are the ones who would be inconvenienced.

And it’s not like anyone would be using that trampoline. So I told the property management company that I have a low tolerance for risk, and that the trampoline was a liability. It was removed pretty quickly. 😅

Ok I was wondering if I was being overly worried about the trampoline, so I googled “trampoline storm.” Most of the photos were of trampolines flipped upside in the yard, but some show damaged fences and all kinds of other things. Here are two.

            I guess I’m not too paranoid. 😁

Oh my! I hadn’t thought about wind; around here storms are mostly rain.

Bounce houses and wind are a hazard, too. Have seen several news stories about them blowing over in the wind, or worse, going airborne with kids in them.

@AdagioM yep, there's crazy wind around here. I really had it on my radar last year, because the week before we moved here, we visited family in IL right after a really bad storm (maybe w tornado, I don't actually remember) and driving through back country corn fields and seeing the damage to silos, barns, houses... You can imagine.

Trampolines and storms are both common here and I am constantly seeing posts about them flying away. People are always quite shocked when theirs ends up in someone else’s yard or a tree, which baffles me because it happens ALL THE TIME. Also, when a kid comes to school with a cast, fifty percent of the time it’s trampoline related.

Yikes! Well, I guess I was right to make a fuss about it then! 😁
