Years ago I was hiking when I encountered a man who was lost and looking for his group.
He was looking for a sign.
It took me about a minute to realize the group had lost the idiot on purpose.
He kept repeating that he was looking for a sign. I restrained myself for a while as he followed me repeating that he was looking for a sign.
Eventually I told him how to get to the trailhead parking lot and that he should get in his car and get on the highway where he would find a lot of signs. Shortly after that we ran into his group. They were not glad to see him. I slinked away.
I think he was the guy the group left on the mountain.
