Yeah, kind of overly specific and overly vague for a thread title.

I'd like to post songs I'm listening to occasionally, and not clutter up the board.

Conversations, comments, and contributions very welcome!

Well, tonight I'm listening to a song in a rare genre for me- deep house- trance.

I've been listening to this song almost every day for a good month.

    Link to video

See: the Audi R8, naturally aspirated, rear engine V-10. None of the German "Big 3" is building anything remotely as good now.

This song is not the best TBH but it's good.

I like it a lot, especially the lyrics.

I've heard this type of music in NYC, and some of it was unreal.

I like it! I go way back to the very beginning of electronic music and have several albums of bands like Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, etc.

Have you heard Steven Wilson's "The Future Bites" album? You might enjoy it.

        I have now!

        I enjoyed this!

        "... love is hell".

        It can be for sure.

Electronic music won the race imho.

For instance, Madonna from when she was what they called a "beautiful nobody" working at Studio 54 until today has buried the saying- "Disco is dead" six feet underground.

Electronic music is pop music today imho.

I was never a dancer but for some reason I like some EDM. I usually steer clear of overly repetitive beats but there is something about deep bass tones that just resonates (pun not intended) with me. Especially some of the really fat sounding analog synth sounds that are so prevalent in such music. I like to feel those really low, inaudible bass tones.

It's a primal thing with us, I think. Dancing around the campfire, roasting a mammoth and beating on logs. Paleo rave.

              @mark I was never a dancer either. Just wasn't. I don't know why.

Dance was the foundation of Madonna's work in music videos and concerts (and I guess still is but she's got a lot of injuries).

She went to Martha Graham's school. Martha Graham named her Madame X.

Hence, Madame X, her last great album.

I wish I could sing! Not pop music. Classical music and church music.

@mark You might enjoy this song.

I listen to it again and again.

Madonna's confessions on a Dance Floor is generally considered to be the best album in Madonna's discography.

Let It WIll Be is one the best songs on the album imho.

It didn't get a video. I think that's too bad. It should have is the consensus.

                Link to video

The best song on the album (and the best video) is Hung Up imho.

Madonna bought the IP from ABBA for it.

She "made it her own" as they say on talent shows. Lol.

                Link to video

                Hung Up has a "B-side".

                Sorry-

                Link to video

Some videos apparently cost such a large amount of money that they produce a 2nd song and video using the same cast and film and set. I've noticed this pattern with her work. Other artiste do the same thing.

Her most recent album- Confessions II is her 15th studio album.

I'd like to listen to it but it's low on my low priority list.

Nothing compares to Madame X, her 14th studio album along with her 1st- 13th studio albums imho.

Well, that's life. Nobody can stay at the top of their game forever.

I think she's doing fine. I totally disagree with people who say she's too old and should retire.

These are the same people who never understood her career, who never stopped hating her for being being a woman who expresses her sexuality in public, who aren't comfortable with sex as a theme in art (I'm rolling my eyes), and who aren't comfortable with the fact that women age.

                Basta!

                Enjoy!

I used to love going out dancing when I was young, in my early 20s I lived in Minneapolis and would go dancing at First Avenue nightclub in downtown Mpls all the time (made famous by Prince). I continued dancing for exercise for a long time, so that’s one big thing I miss now with my foot problem.

Fantasia is the best American singer of modern times, imho. Yes, the one who won American Idol. She went on to be mentored by Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle no less. I don't think her studio albums or videos are the best but in a live performance, commanding the band, improvising, and interacting with the audience, I think she's one of the GOAT.

This is only a mild version of her virtuosity. I love this performance.

                          This is such a shame.

                          I love Nicki Minaj's music.

Her latest "Christian" output no however.

Says She’s ‘Not Going Anywhere’ After Donald Trump Calls Her His ‘Favorite’: ‘She’s Been With Me a Long Time’

                          bit.ly/47yfYd4

I've followed her since she was rapping on the streets of Queens, before she was discovered on My Space.

I watched her become famous as the GOAT female rapper.

I watched her fuse hip hop and pop.

I'm saying I know her career inside and out.

This is not who she ever was. This is not what she ever represented.

In fact, this is contrary to we who she was and everything she's done.

I'll post my favorite videos at some point.

                          But this.

Fair warning. The next thing I have to say will probably not be believed by many here but could not be more clear to me.

                          She's been brainwashed.

                          I'll leave it at that.

                            Now Nicki Minaj.

A comment below this video says this was her best verse. I don't disagree.

This was recorded before the release of her first album.

I'll get to her first album. It was the start of her meteoric rise to become the top female hip hop artist (this isn't really my evaluation- it's a "thing" in hip hop because hip hop is based on "battles"- it is what it is).

This verse shows really a kind of virtuosity- there's no other word for it. Warning. Graphic.

Changing pace, this is my favorite Nicki Minaj song and video. I love it. I'm no longer a romantic nor a dreamer but I was when this was released- and it hit me hard.

                                          Nicki Minaj Ft Rhianna

This is the authentic artist and part of the indelible mark she made, before she lost her mind for real and began publicly promoting fascism.

I love this video too. The part where she is dancing on the plane's tail wing in a pink wig is epic. 🩷

There's so much more. Her first album was a masterpiece.

                                          More some other day.

                                          More Fantasia too for sure
