I got my isp switched from Spectrum to NHBroadband today. Wow, a big speed difference. I was fed up with Spectrum's constant rate increases. I warned them. Bye, bye. NHBroadband is through my electric co-op. They partnered with Conexon a few years back to bring fiber to rural areas.

    So far I'm happy.

At least it’s not about digestive health.

Congratulations on getting fiber Internet, it’s usually the best form of Internet wherever it’s available.

Nice change. Three months ago we gave Sky (70Mbs on the old BT landline) the boot and got Youfibre (1800Mbs), fingers crossed the service has been perfect.
I get the feeling the latest router makes as much difference as the increased speed(unless you have a high speed cable from the router into your computer device).

We probably need a new router…

@bernard wait, you have an electric co-op? How does that work.

I have no choice but Duke Energy.

              Yes, from North Carolina.

It's expensive and the billing options are complex but no choice.

              Bring back public utilities.

              Congrats on your new service!

                  Yes. From the website:

New Hampshire Electric Cooperative puts you first. We are nonprofit, owned by our customer-members and governed by the democratic process. Our members are at the center of everything we do.

So I made the mistake of thinking that closing my Spectrum account would be quicker if I did it over the phone. Oh boy. They put me through to their account retention dept. Bastards. It all started out fine and I thought I was just speaking with someone who would take my directive, tell me what I owed, and close my account. What a spiel she went through. It was insulting. She seemed to forget that I had already switched providers and was only interesting in ending my relation with them. After 3 or 4 times of telling her I was in no way interested in what she had to offer I said, in a well-raised voice (I was fed up) that I'd go to my local office and hung up. The clerk at the local office actually sympathized with me. Apparently Spectrum has been hemorrhaging customers. I looked it up when I got home...

Spectrum lost 172,000 internet subscribers in the second quarter of 2026. This follows a loss of 120,000 internet subscribers in the first quarter of 2026.

Can't say I'm all that surprised.

                    The industrial revolution cheapened everything.
