Whether you like or dislike Trump, this dreadful Iranian clerical regime needs to be wiped from the earth.
Long overdue, I wish the USA every success in their war against the Iranian terrorist regime. You can't negotiate with these people, be it Hamas, Hezbollah, or Khamenei himself -

Long overdue, I wish the USA every success in their war against the Iranian terrorist regime. You can't negotiate with these people, be it Hamas, Hezbollah, or Khamenei himself@AndyD War will not solve the problem, especially if based on lies. How damned many times have we tried that route at great human and monetary cost? Usually based on lies. This action is no different.
If the US is going to continue to meddle where we don't belong, let's do it the right and legal way: Congressional debate and approval or unapproval. Seeing how 90% of Americans are opposed to Trump's illegal acts, I would say an alternative to war must be pursued. We are very choosy in deciding where to attempt regime change. This war will be a disaster if not stopped.

Major General (Ret.) Paul D. Eaton, an Army commander during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and senior adviser to VoteVets PAC, said in a statement:
Men who know more about war than Donald Trump ever will warned him repeatedly about the risks to American lives by starting a war with Iran. Indeed, Trump himself predicted casualties in his speech to America. The Constitution could not be more clear. When launching wars of choice, especially with American lives in the balance, the president goes to Congress and Congress authorizes it. That did not happen, and these operations are blatantly unconstitutional.
More to the point, these operations seem to have no focus. Trump says they’re to keep Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, but just last year he said we ‘obliterated’ that program. It seems to be targeting missile sites, but Trump says it is to stoke regime change. A war without focus is a war with no tangible goals. And a war with no goals ends up a Forever War.

Preach, MTG!
Andy, if you think so then maybe Britain should do it without us.
Everything MTG said is true and correct. My country is being turned into a 3rd World country at the expense of American lives and treasure in these endless regime change wars on behalf of Israel.
This Iran war on behalf of Israel is as completely false and illegitimate as the Iraq War was on behalf of Israel with both being based fear mongering lies.
The only imminent existential danger to all of us is nuclear war based on Israel's "secret," nuclear program, that isn't inspected by the relevant international organization, unlike Iraq's, and Israel's stated policy code named, "Samson," a plan to use their nuclear weapons to kill anyone and everyone they decide to obliterate if the government of Israel decides it no longer has a viable future.
Israel is not a, "democracy." It is an apartied state. It is committing genocide. My country should cut it loose financially and militarily, and make make AIPAC register as a foreign agent, because it is a foreign agent.
Israel is a supremacist theocratic state, and, again, commiting The Palestinian Genocide, a term now officially coined by the U.N.
I wanted nothing to do with the Iraq war and I feel the same way now.

Well the Iranian ambassador to the UN brought a wry grin when he said the US and Israel bombs had killed a hundred people of his people, forgetting that he and his mates had killed 30,000 in the last month.
Personally if I see a bloke with a big stick beating up a woman saying you must stay at home and wear a niqab, beating on a man saying his homosexuality is a sin & mental disease; and I have a gun, then I'll say stop. When man with stick continues, argues, threatening to kill me, I'll use my gun to shoot him in the leg. He continues despite argument and warnings then I'll shoot his other leg. He continues, I'll aim higher.
I don't care what nationality any of them are.
We live on one tiny planet and ought to help.
But it is our nature to be self-serving, tribal, nationalistic. -
I won't litigate this as such.
I was against my country waging a war of aggression on Iran when I heard first heard of the planning of this dark reality we fine ourselves in now decades ago when the Neocons made no secret of any aspect of their plans to wage a war of aggression on Iran, and I am against it now.
In particular, Iran doesn't have nuclear weapons, but it has excellent guided missiles, and its military capabilities are vastly underrated.
The battle ground is a small land mass compared to places like the U.S., Canada, Russia, China, Austria, Etc.
It will be very destructive, very quickly, and many expert analysts have talked about what they believe would be an increase for the probability of global nuclear war.
Iran is not an existential threat to the U.S. The U.S. won't but should back away from this illegal war.

But it is our nature to be self-serving, tribal, nationalistic.@AndyD There is little disputing the ugliness of the regime, but the solution is not having two megalomaniac criminals attacking a sovereign state to save their skins. Netanyahu is a war criminal+, and Trump is tanking at home and the Epstein files are getting closer and closer to the inner circle.
I have read that the Iranian regime has 7 levels of contingency for every major office. They will not be thrown into disarray over the murder of the Supreme Leader. There is someone right behind him to take his place.
What we are doing is promoting more violence as an answer to violence. More hate as an answer to hate. It will not work. And Americans will again, be asked to pay, innocent Iranians will be asked to pay. Both with money and lives. It's gross. And a violation of our constitution to continue without Congressional support.

@Steve-Miller She has indeed made a spectacle of herself and she still holds views that boggle the mind. But I am glad she's speaking out against Trump; she's one of the few from that pack of magats to be doing so. I give her credit for calling out the blatant lies and hypocrisy of Trump, Vance, et. al.
-
And not to mention--a big one--the increased risk of nuclear war. Iran isn't going to take this sitting down, and Trump is throwing out some damned scary language, which will in turn, no doubt, be met with retaliation. This could very quickly escalate to the level of unimaginable horror. Trump is not a stable man. (For that matter, none of these players are very stable.) A war of madmen.

This is the difference between campaigning and governing. This intervention will be brief.
