@Mik You probably get the weekly email from them about the power quality at your house. It includes a "save of the week" story. Don't know about you, but when we got it I thought it was really about finding problems in side a home's electrical system, but it seems like a lot of the problems that are detected are coming from the utility.

Yep. I do, and I agree.

@CHAS - Did you get it through your insurer? We got ours through State Farm. Device was free and they pay for the monitoring for the first three years.

              From Ting's Feb update:

When over 1 million homes lost power during Winter Storm Fern last month, the Ting electrical safety network delivered real-time, neighborhood-level outage data to emergency responders. These insights help prioritize response and reduce risks like home fires, flooding from frozen pipes, and serious impacts for entire communities

A little blip in the system. Ting recorded it.

I wanted to post "tang" but thought better about it. : )

Just yesterday replaced the power cords (a couple were at least 40 yrs old!) and rearranged everything I have plugged into them.

I haven't learned to use my fire extinguishers (I know - super dumb) yet or my very unusual trap door.

                  I will.

My father was an electrician. I miss being able to ask him questions.

I was grocery shopping this afternoon and almost bought some Tang but after reading the ingredient list decided to skip it. I was looking for packets of Kool-Aid like we had when I was a child and the Kool-Aid products brought me to where the Tang is shelved. Anyway, they didn't have any packets of Kool-Aid, just big jars of it. Oh well. I was going to make frozen Kool-Aid pops like we used to make. I looked at the ingredients for Kool-Aid. Holy-moly, it's loaded with sugar. I skipped it too.

I think Daniel may have been referring to a particular variety of “tang.” 🙂

                        Unusual trap door?

Fire extinguishers have become extremely easy to use. Latest ones I was trained on, you:
Pulled a locking ring to release a pin
                        Pointed nozzle at fire
                        Squeezed lever
The powder type spray dealt with all types of fire.

(No more turning a big heavy cylinder upside down for water spray
No thoughts about not holding the funnel for icy pressurised gas)
