Thursday I got a message from Bootsy saying he had an extra ticket to the NY Phil.

We saw Yefim Bronfman playing the Schumann concerto and Tchaikovsky’s second symphony.

Excellent seats, 6th row just left of center. Here’s a picture of them placing the piano.

    Two great performances.

How is the new hall? I only ever experienced it, and knew it, as Avery Fisher Hall. It sounds like there was a prolonged effort to get renovations done. Again.

      The industrial revolution cheapened everything.

        Good for you, jon!

I've only known about it as Avery Fisher Hall.

I didn't even know Avery Fisher Hall was no more.

Kind of crude to remove a former benefactor’s name when someone comes along and throws more money at it. Fisher/Geffen Hall?

Don't these concert halls move the piano into place, then have a tuner ensure it's OK?

            I suppose they move frequently..

Usually but last night there was a first piece, not worth mentioning, that was for orchestra only. So they wheeled it out mid way through. I’m sure it was tuned right off stage before the event started.
