        https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/20/us/politics/republicans-trump-greenland.html

A small but growing group of Republicans in Congress is expressing openness to President Trump’s increasingly explicit push to acquire Greenland, along with his desire to punish European allies who resist the idea.

... with the president stepping up his threats and showing no sign of backing down, Republicans across the ideological spectrum are increasingly finding ways to defend or justify his threats — or embrace them altogether.

The Republican party needs to be crushed at the next election .... if it ever happens.

It is not true that Eskimos put the elderly on an icefloe and gave it a push.
Thoughts of that do bring a lovely image to mind.

Interesting tv drama I found randomly and hit subscribe button for it.

The Prime Minister of Greenland has an audience with the Pope.

              Link to video

              Carry on.

Laurence O’Donnell was right. We’ve twisted ourselves in knots all week over Greenland, and LO said he really wouldn’t use force to get Greenland. Today Trump said he won’t use force to get Greenland.

Which is not to say that a lot of damage hasn’t been done.

I don’t know if this is over yet. A Danish MP said there can’t be a deal without the Greenlanders, and they weren’t part of these discussions.

                  https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/jan/22/trump-greenland-framework-future-deal-reactions

Trump keeps doing irrational things and gets snatched from the brink by people with brains. They let him announce a deal and let him take credit and then actually work the deal behind the scenes.

I think Trump is losing his marbles and is growing increasingly nutty. I hope things don’t get to a point where something he does triggers a total disaster. We’ve already had some close calls.

Now, where are those Epstein files?

Well, he said he wouldn't attack Venezuela; then he did it.

I hope they are still prepared.

I mean-- here's a similar thought experiment. An American president belligerently talks about annexing Canada.

Canada of course is a nation state. It has its own complex history. None of this history leads back to the US.

At least the madness of King George III was or is remembered as being in any case harmless and deserving of sympathy.

History will be far less kind to a president of the US who belligerently talks about waging an illegal war against Canada.

This is aside from everything he has done, everything he is doing/ has been talked into doing, and everything he is belligerently threatening to do in the future.

I think Pituffik is so critical to your defense against Russia (and China) that Donald wants sovereignty over the area. Especially when you consider that the proposed golden dome may cost three trillion and not be effective.

I don't disagree but Denmark has agreed to everything the US has asked for since WWII. Americans consider this (yet more) belligerence and consider its source. You have to admit this one seems to want to rule over everywhere, over everyone, and over everything.
