Shōgun

No spoilers please!

So, thanks to the tip from @wtg we signed up for Hulu (on Black Friday) and finally started watching Shōgun yesterday. We only watched episode one.

It was great, and Mr. SK loves it! I read the original novel years ago and hardly remember any of it, but he doesn’t know the story at all.

Who else is watching it or has watched it?

I'm not watching it but now that you mention it I remember the novel. My mother had it and read it. She lived in occupied Japan for three years when my grandfather was stationed there. He had a career as a NCO in the Air Force. Her time there made a strong impression on her and it stayed with her for the rest of her life.

You'll get no spoilers from me. I don't get Hulu and never tried to read the novel. Lol.

I watched it, it was really great and had a couple of terrific performances. Too violent for Mary Anna, though.

Yeah, I got a glimpse of that in episode one.... It's been a while since I've watched anything with much violence, so that was quite jarring.

Most of my Mader knowledge of Japanese language comes from that book. I started watching the new series but then lost Hulu.
