I had a rehearsal in Brooklyn today. I took the ferry and subway and walked 35 minutes to the place. But afterward I decided to take Uber into Manhattan to the ferry, and make it easier on my knee. It was the first time I used the app and called and paid for an Uber. It was pretty easy and smooth.

It’s not easy to hail a yellow cab in Brooklyn, by the way.

You know where uber/lyft are most useful? When you’re traveling overseas and worried that a taxi driver might take you for a ride figuratively as well as literally, not use the meter per regulations and/or take you in a circuitous route to your destination. With uber you see where you’re supposed to go and know up front how much it costs. It takes the need for trust out of it.

Back in the day, I'd rent a car to shuffle from appointment to appointment when traveling. Even at its best, that's a pain. Using Uber was cheaper and much easier for everyone involved. Even today in Chicago, I find it easier to get an Uber than a cab.
