So you are living solo? That's great. We will need pics of the new place when you get it in order.

Welcome back, Daniel! Glad events are going well for you. Must feel luxurious to have your own place now.

          The industrial revolution cheapened everything.

Thanks, Bernard! It does feel luxurious.

I felt like I was living in the 19th century at my last place.

FEMA declared it uninhabitable after Milton.

But that has practical meaning to local officials.

I did appreciate having a roof over my head, a bathroom, and cold running water, truly.

I did look on the bright side. That helped.

So your new place is a condo or are you still in the park?

It's a double wide in the park with a cathedral ceiling, tile floors, a different company made it, solid doors that click shut, metal clamshell storm shutters that can be lowered to protect the windows or provide privacy, a tile front porch with storm windows, all new appliances, inside washer and dryer, furnished, etc.

I bought it from a Canadian couple who only spent winters here and who had the resources to maintain it in pretty much pristine condition.

I have one repair to do. Actually two things I need to do.

One bathroom fan isn't vented and the ceiling cap where the air should go out and the rain shouldn't come in needs to be fixed. The water leaking drips on the tile floor. It's not bad but of course water is corrosive.

I need a contractor expect the underside to find out the condition of the vapor barrier and the air-conditioning ducks.

It in the original section of the park as opposed to where I lived. It's a different neighborhood. The vibe is much friendlier. The lots are small and so people can't stand outside and talk all day and this is very peaceful.

It's a very when you're inside your inside kind of place. My last place was like a ghost pirate ship.

It's one of nicest mobile homes in the park.

                    I love it.

My favorite discovery was the escape door on the back wall behind a closet in my bedroom.

I think it's charming. I don't know what they were thinking.

I paid $35k. It would have been at least 70k if the l market hadn't been the way it's been and is in most of Florida.

I wanted to own a condo very much but I thought hard about it and changed my mind.

I decided I couldn't afford one at triple the price with the long list of HOA fees, property taxes, insurance, rising steeply at this time and the always present possibility of special assessments.

I might well need to move from here if the owner were to pass and his children sold the business.

These range from raising lot rents, deeply, changing the rent system to separate included items and create new bills, at best, to refusing to renew every lease in the park, and turning the park into nothing but rentals.

I'm pleased with my decision because buying a condo could have put me at risk of being losing everything.

I'm more conservative and risk adverse than I've been in the past for sure.

I can see the way you're writing that much of your past stress is already history.
Now you can live a little, maybe build up a cash cushion, have a holiday?
