    I rarely use Facebook and I do not use Instagram, so there is barely anything for Meta to grab from me there.
    I use Google a lot, I checked and found that me "search history" is already set to "off," in fact I have all my history-related settings set to "off" except YouTube (because I really want to be able to see what videos I have watched before so I avoid rewatching the same thing again).

      Same as @axtremus here. No FB, no Instagram, and my Google settings are the same as Ax's, including the YT history.

          @Axtremus I have my Youtube history setting to off, but because I only watch videos from people I'm subscribed to (and similar videos from people I'm not subscribed to), I almost always click the 'like' button on as a courtesy to the creators and to help their stats. For that reason, Youtube knows pretty much my history because they automatically create a playlist called "Liked Videos" and if I were to delete it, Youtube would remove all of my "likes". Bastards.

            @wtg Ditto. I have no accounts at any Meta apps. I checked, and my Google search history is also off.

                @AdagioM Good.

                “Our intent was to provide a useful creative tool and to give people control over whether their public content could be referenced in this way. We’ve heard the feedback that this feature missed the mark, so it’s no longer available.”

                Liars. If they wanted to give people control, their default modus operandi would be "opt in". Bastards.

                  @Bernard I had already changed my options to not having people use my pictures for remixing. But my stuff is definitely shareable, so dyers/knitters can repost them. That’s biz!

                    Don't know if anyone pays any attention to YouTube "Shorts" (short videos) meant to compete with TikTok. Last time I checked (which was a few years ago), user uploaded "Shorts" were "remixable" and there was no way for the smaller independent content creators to disable that. I generally avoid YouTube Shorts and wish that there is a way to permanently suppress Shorts from being suggested to me by YouTube. 🤷

                      I don’t make shorts, although I think one of my super short videos was counted as a short. It was just the groovy sidewalk in Alicante, Spain. But mainly my videos are knitting tutorials, and longer than a short.

                        Which reminds me of another YouTube policy that I dislike: it automatically classifies an uploaded video as a “Short” if it’s one minute or shorter, with all the attendant treatments of “Shorts” such as making it “remixable”, no way for the content creator to specify that the upload be treated as “regular video.” I see that as YouTube’s attempt to inflate its “Shorts” content library against the content creators’ will. Last time I made a sub-minute video upload, I looped it twice to make it exceed “one minute” so it could escape the “Shorts” treatment.
