A one-of-a-kind Shigeru Kawai SK5 has just arrived at Cordogan's!

This custom-wrapped piano was created through a partnership with Heralbony ( ヘラルボニー ) – a Japanese fashion and design company that features the artistry of people with disabilities.

    About the artist:
Boston-based Sato first discovered his passion at a summer camp at age 10. He has painted one watercolor piece every single day. He is known for the combination of clear, translucent colors. Sato is also a pianist who enjoyed playing this piano several times during its debut at the recent NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, but he enjoyed seeing others play it more.

      Very pretty!!

I’ve heard of wrapped pianos, I believe it’s similar to wrapping cars, right? I wonder if it damages the finish at all.

I can't help wonder what kind of disability would be conducive to unleashing creativity with this watercolor-like design but I'm all for it. It's creative and sensitive. We need more of this kind of thoughtfulness in the world.

Not my cup of tea, but I'm all for supporting creativity.

Not my cup of tea either. Not for classical music, anyway; too much of a distraction. I could see Elton John playing it onstage. Appreciate that it's an artistic expression, but that would work far better as a fabric print, imo.

              The industrial revolution cheapened everything.

Here it is (that was easy, just google "Drake Bosendorfer and tons of photos pop up, how funny!)

So, full disclosure: I love how the keyboard looks. But I would not want this for my own piano.

By the way, here's the artwork inside the lid:
                  alt text

It's by the Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami. If I were commissioning him for some piano artwork, I would pick something more like this:

Or this, which would be especially appreciated in this dreary weather!

But again, I wouldn't want this for my piano.

The piano can be black (as mine is) and the artwork can in the room around it (as mine is.....

The correct way to decorate a grand piano is pile all sorts of sheet music and knick knacks on it. (As mine is.)
