Dogs adopt their humans

AI? I'm so naive!
It is sweet.
I want a cat to choose me. They do. But none in seven years has even come up to me in the street except one a few weeks ago. He was just saying hello. He let me pet him then got overly excited and bit me!
Two cats fell in love with me in Hawaii. I couldn't take in either one due to circumstance.
But one was an old male cat. We adored each other. He intuitively knew I was moving and spent the last two weeks never approaching me just glaring at me.
The other was an orange male cat that used to let me hold him like a baby and he would hug me. That's the exact kind of cat I want! Orange, male, gentle, liked nothing better than to be close to you.
That cat had the same intuitive insight and also was standoffish for about two weeks before I moved.
The only thing I can think of the cats here is that it's a city and these cats ended up here because people abandoned them.

I've started checking the descriptions on YT videos. They often tell you if the video is AI-generated. From the dog video:
This video was created using advanced generative AI technology (Sora 2) to visualize and recreate the powerful, often-untold narratives of human and animal connection. While these specific scenes are synthetically generated, they are inspired by the very real, unscripted bonds that occur in shelters and rescue organizations every single day. At Life is a Movie, we use technology to capture the heart of the human experience and show the "soul recognition" that words can't describe.
How this was made
Altered or synthetic content
Sound or visuals were significantly edited or digitally generated.

But I believe the concept, not just for dogs but for most domesticated animals that we routinely interact with (cats, horses, dairy cows, etc.). Every pet we've had has clearly had a favorite human. Sometimes it's been me and sometimes not. We even had a chicken that loved my dad. I've never really understood or isolated anything that the chosen human is doing differently than those of us in the discard pile.

I finally have a cat that adores me. Cosmo came over the fence in August as a 12 week old kitten and we quickly bonded. It’s wonderful because Luna and Stella are clearly Janet’s and not terribly affectionate. Cosmo is is snuggler. I love it but go to be each night covered in cat hair.
