Does anyone know what these tray-like things are for under the legs of this bed? I saw this in a real estate photo in NYT and was curious, because to my eye, it looks like someone is worried about critters or something, but I can’t figure out what it would be. And if I were prepping real estate photos, I would remove anything like that just because it makes the viewer wonder what’s going on.

Ok I googled, most likely pest control, those are used to prevent bed bugs.

Why on earth would not remove those for the photos ??

Btw this is from this article: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/08/realestate/manhattan-brooklyn-homes-for-sale.html

It’s a 2.something million dollar townhouse in Brooklyn. With an idiot for a real estate agent, I guess.

They're afraid the army ants are going to come in and eat them alive in the bed ...

I want to live in Murray Hill in a modern luxury apartment with views of the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building, and the East River.

In addition to the idiot real estate agent, I’m surprised NYT chose this unit, and included this photo. I didn’t read through all the comments but a lot of people are commenting on it in the comments as well.

At the very least NYT could have mentioned it in the “pros and cons” part, instead of just this:

              CONS
Only the garden-level unit has access to the backyard.

Pretty sure “bed bugs” is a more noteworthy-worthy con…
