Happy Thanksgiving - What's your story?

We're in Santa Fe with the sons, the daugher-in-law, the two step grands and wife's sister.
I'm doing a whole beef tenderloin this time, not a turkey. I'm not responsible for anything else!
Here's sunset last night from the driveway.

Cold and snowing lightly here. Kids are in from Boston, staying until Sunday.
Turkey breast instead of whole turkey this year -a first for us. Much simpler - we shall see. Cooking in the countertop oven I got for the basement and it’s making me nervous - it’s being very slow to return to temp after I put the turkey in. This could take a while.
Sharon is making the usual sides then later we’ll go to Kim’s in-laws for desserts.

Bird update:
The countertop oven works fine once I figured the oven thermostat is off by 75 degrees. Everything is browning nicely.

Well, I was just trying to figure out if I should wait a bit to come over if the turkey was running behind schedule....

Dinner was wonderful! The squash was really nice, nutmeg, buttter, & brown sugar, raisins soaked in vermouth, allspice, S&P, and a bit of milk. A little hiccup with the molded waldorf: I halved the recipe, but when I added the mayonnaise, I forgot to halve it. A little tangier than usual, but not really noticeable with the rest of the meal. It remains one of my faves.

We had fun!! And so much food, yikes!! It was very yummy, but still, yikes!!

Where to start? I got up at 8 AM, made myself a coffee and drove off to the gym . It was surprisingly crowded with a mixture of kind of scary-looking motorcycle gang types and elderly retired geezers. Weird- I don’t think of myself as a motorcycle gang type….
I spent about an hour this morning reviewing some work documents. Needed to review and approve the work plan for a new branch going in Hawaii in a few months and finish the minutes from last month board meeting. I’m still not clear why I’m the one who has to do the damn minutes, but I think it’s related to the fact that I’m the only one for whom English is their first language.
Wandered over to the corner pile for the sheet music for today’s habitual playing of the ragtime of the day. Today was Artie Matthew’s pastime rag number 5. it’s a nice slow one so I did not injure myself.
still to come ? there’s a local place where I can grab some tacos for lunch and then head over to Virginia Lake for a short hike.
I may watch episode four of Ken Burn’s American Revolution this afternoon if I have time . Heck I might even shower and shave at some point..

I actually went to the gym twice today. For a quick 45m at 7 when it opened then I had to leave so I came back around 9. At 9 it was as busy as it gets. Normal crowd.

Why does that story sound so much like AI?
Didn't really notice it on first read, but I can sort of see how it might come across that way. Maybe it's the "it was a dark and stormy night" opening...

I forgot to take pictures of this year's Thanksgiving dinner spread.

For turkey, I used Costco's Turkey Dinner Kit this year. The stuffing was too salty for my liking, but overall it turned out OK.
Thanksgiving is more festive this year because the extended family entered a phase where a new generation of children are entering their "cute" years. This year's Thanksgiving was otherwise rather uneventful.

It's actually pretty good for a box stuffing. We have it as an occasional treat (Mr wtg adds extra stuff like Sharon does), though less frequently since I turned into the UPF Nazi....

I looked at the ingredients list on the bag and as UPF foods go it’s not the worst but the stuffing I used to make is much cleaner. I start by making cornbread and proceed from there.

By the way, I really wish we could retire the phrase 'processed food' and come up with new description(s) of the foods in the category based on the mechanism or degree of harm. 'Processed' is just too neutral and generic (you know those strawberries you're eating? They've been through the picking, washing, and packaging process - really!).
But less flip, it seems to me there's a big difference between organic whole wheat bread and neon-orange cheese dust, yet both are, indeed, processed foods. We need to make a better distinction. ('Ultra' helps, but only so much. It suffers from the same imprecision and lack of any biological reference).
I realize I'm yelling into a void.
