    It practically leaves me speechless. As someone in the comments writes, "Gripping, horrifying and informative." An interview with a captivating author on Hitler's finals hours.

      Looks fascinating. Will finish in the morning.

        Jessica Mitford, the English upper-class lady who moved to America and became a communist, was being interviewed by Christopher Hitchens...

        Link to video

        and she told this story of how one of her sisters was visiting Hitler, and she could have killed him. Then she pauses and says something like: 'In the end,...' [/end paraphrase; start verbatim] "I didn't have to worry about it because someone did it for me."

        She is clearly implying the truth is Hitler was assassinated.

        How would she know?

        A large percentage of the English upper-class supported Hitler and freely associated with the regime in Germany.

        Examples of this large scale association are two numerous to mention but a few examples are:

        Edward, Duke of Windsor. Full stop.

        The famous picture of Wallis Simpson meeting Hitler.

        The famous Mitford sisters who seemed to live out this drama both as a group when they were growing up and as adults.

        To say what she said and considering the witty and casual way she said it?

        I only had to hear and watch her say it to change my mind about conventional wisdom.

        I don't know of any other telling of the-- if you had a chance to kill Hitler... story that dispenses with the hypothetical, relates a real life story, and follows it up with a punchline.

        @Bernard, Thank you for posting this video. I'm sorry couldn't enjoy it. I offer my viewpoint with my implicit respect.

          @Daniel.

          It is quite unclear what Mitford is referring to when she says "someone did it for me", and it's equally unclear that she knows the actual events that occurred behind those closed doors where Hitler presumably met his demise. Historians would have been most interested in any new light that Jessica Mitford could have shone on the matter; anything to help wade through the Soviet misinformation campaign. Pity she didn't enlighten them.

            What I wonder is: Is there credible forensic evidence? What documentation exists if any. And what testimonies exist if any and if so are they in written and/ or oral form.
