Gem of the day; jewelry as well

Green doesn't look good with my skin tone, so I wouldn't buy the green one for myself, but since I'm not actually going to buy any of then, I do like looking at it. If I wanted to spend stupid amounts of money on a diamond, I'd look seriously at a pink one, but I have other places to spend money foolishly.
One of my birthstones in blue zircon, which is naturally radioactive. You don't see it much any more, but it was popular in the early twentieth century and you see it in vintage jewelry. I think it's very pretty so, a number of years ago, I thought of buying myself a vintage blue zircon ring. Then I thought about the history of really aggressive cancers in my family and decided that my crappy DNA didn't need to be in contact for long periods of time with even a slightly radioactive stone.
When we bought my engagement ring, we were looking at the usual white diamonds to be set in a rose gold ring that I really liked. They had a couple of loose diamonds on display and one of them was blue. It was a pretty color, not unlike the blue zircons I'd admired, but the diamond had been irradiated to get it that color. I don't think there would be any residual radiation, but I just didn't want my engagement ring to be "fake."
Next to it, there was another colored diamond. This one was brown, which I would have never thought I would like, but something made me think it would look nice with the rose gold setting. It did. In fact, it looked so nice that the person waiting on us got a little excited.
So that's what we got, and I'm still very happy with it.
There are mines in Australia that produce brown and pink diamonds, so I like to think that perhaps the labor practices are a little less oppressive there than at the blood diamond mines in South Africa and thereabouts. It's my understanding that some of the brown diamonds from those mines have desirable pink overtones. The official description calls it "fancy very light brown" and doesn't mention pink, but I see pink in it.

I love your ring! It was very well designed.
Men's gold watches are sometimes yellow gold but the standard for men's gold watches is pink gold.
I remember posting at a jewelry forum once and a bunch of us were trying to share this information with a female poster.
She was almost apoplectic. She said pink gold was only for females and any man who wore anything made of pink gold must be gay. Lol.

My favorite aquamarine ring.

I decided to post this kunzite necklace after wanting to post something made of kunzite.
It had me at hello.
Love the design.
Love kunzites.
The most beautiful kunzite necklace I've seen belonged to Elizabeth Taylor.

This is an Art Deco platinum necklace with an 80 ct green emerald cut tourmaline.
The tourmaline was usually an
indicolite tourmaline as I mentioned but this necklace is the standard design for these necklaces.https://rauantiques.com/products/art-deco-green-tourmaline-pendant-80-71-carats

I don’t get much in to jewelery but I really like that necklace!

Well, you like design and craftsmanship so it makes sense!

This was in the FT magazine today
I'm not usually a fan of complex or large rings, but this blue diamond with whites is a cracker; I'd buy if I could.

Spectacular, Andy.
I'd have a huge, unmovable vault in my home if I won the lottery.

Red spinel is probably my favorite gemstone along with diamonds.
I became interested in red spinels when I read about them and saw pictures of them with carved inscriptions done for Moghul rulers.
I far prefer red spinels to rubies.

I like the store Vivienne from Chateau Love runs online. She sells antique jewelry. Nothing exorbitant in price, just really nice. There's a pair of mother of pearl cufflinks 4 or 5 pages down that I like. She has quite a turnover of merchandise so there's always a lot of "SOLD" items but she stocks it frequently.

Siberian amethyst.
Do you see? It's not the same color as what we think of amethyst. It's not close.

I know the pendant would have nowhere to sit if the chain were longer.
I just have a personal dislike of short chains.
I also think the pendant is too big for the chain.
I'd wear this as a brooch.

@Bernard I looked through this and read the descriptions for a couple hours. I like all the different periods of jewelry and some of these pieces were beautiful and the prices incredible.

@Daniel. my ring is a 2 carat old mine cut. Not colorless, but I don’t know where I put the papers for it so I couldn’t tell you how it’s graded. It’s my grandmother’s stone. I love the flat culet! It definitely sparkles in low light; it was cut for candlelight/gaslight times. I don’t wear it much; I’d rather wear my wedding ring and anniversary band on my other hand. But I love it for the sentimental value, even though I never met my maternal grandmother.

@AdagioM I think it's my favorite cut. I like emerald cut for diamonds and many gems. But if I could have one diamond to choose then this would be it. You have a nice heirloom. I'm sure you enjoy it. I know I would...
-
@AdagioM I hear you. Some jewelry looks good on me and I love it when that happens. It's such a comfortable feeling.
I always think: will this fit my everyday life?, what kind of attention will this attract?, what will it be like to actually own this piece?
Very few pieces fit my criteria. My Cartier 1895 18 kt was perfect. Sadly, I lost it a long time ago.
I plan to replace it with same or the variant in platinum, or one other Cartier ring,...
maybe a VC&A trace chain (made for Zodiac collection)...
maybe a chain link bracelet,...
and hopefully a small collection of gems around the $500 price point.
Maybe I won't buy anything. Lord knows.
