So the connection for me is Traumerei --> Noah Adams --> NPR.
Noah Adams was a long-time commentator on NPR, especially All Things Considered, and he wrote a book called Piano Lessons: Music, Love, and True Adventures, which was about his efforts to learn piano starting at age 51. Traumerei was one of the pieces he wrote about, and this book might have been the first piano book I ever read when I first started learning to play the piano. His book was published in 1997, and I started in 1999 at age almost 30. But even though I was younger than him, I remember I felt a real affinity for him, and I found his book both comforting and motivating. So I've always associated Traumerei with him more than anyone or anything else. But yeah, it's probably too obscure.

I do know, because I read that book after I started piano lessons, and so did Mr. AM because he was taking guitar lessons. And then he surprised me with a trip to Sonata in Bennington VT for my birthday. The gift that kept on giving; I loved it so much I went for several years after that.
