@wtg said in Farmer John: The wife of one of the farm workers was murdered in Mexico by a relative. Two of his three daughters witnessed their mother being killed. How awful. A few hundred dollars pales in comparison.

I have never tried to sleep with an eye mask, but I sometimes put a small washcloth folded up over my eyes. My mother once implied that was dangerous, like that it could suffocate me? I don't see how, but maybe it's not the best idea. Re light at night, I very much dislike having any light leaking into the bedroom. We have a nightlight in the hall that I actually swapped out to get one that wasn't as bright. But if we close the bedroom door, it gets too hot. Or if there's no light in the hall, it's dangerous because of where the stairs are. Maybe it will be better after we move....

@ShiroKuro That sounds like a valuable discovery. When I lived in Brazil, I saw termite mounds in fields that were taller than a person. Here is an article about them [(link url)(https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2018/11/brazil-termite-murundus-mounds-space-4000-years-old/576160/) Big Al

BTW I just checked, MPM charged me $1695.00. Very reasonable IMO.

I shared the list with my daughter. She recognized some albums that I didn't know. There were some other classics that we (and my wife) all knew and some in genres that none of us listen to that were totally unfamiliar, although we recognized some of the artists by name. Big Al

I noticed the new favicon had appeared on my browser favorites list. Now I know why. I think it is excellent - easy to spot and identify. Big Al

Uno was a favorite game at my parents' house and I enjoy a game now and then. It's simple enough for children to play, but still fun for adults. Ehat makes it very good for family game nights, Big Al

I agree with you! But I'm going to make a point of looking through their scores more often, if for no other reason than I can listen and follow along, which I always love doing. Plus, I'm paying, soo....

I don't really have a problem with leaning artwork, leaning mirrors etc. But I look at that sofa artwork and see an accident waiting to happen!

Thanks for sharing that Jodi, it sounds sort of mixed but manageable. @Jodi said in Alzheimer’s/dementia and finances: Care taking jobs don’t pay that well. Yep, this is one part of the problem. The cost to the residents/patients is another... It’s pretty depressing for the rest of us. I can only imagine. I'm sorry!

@wtg said in The doorbell rang: Or it was a distraction ruse, something that happens in our area quite often. One guy comes to the door and engages the homeowner, especially seniors (I think I qualify), usually trying to get them to the back of the house and away from the front door. An accomplice gets in the house and steals property. I’ve heard about this happening more in this area as well. Once we move, I wonder if we’ll be more vulnerable to that kind of thing, mostly bc it’s a nicer house. Our rental house is pretty nice on the inside (mostly) but the outside is so drab and in need of various tweaks and repairs , I can’t imagine it would be much of a draw for that kind of crime.
