@AndyD I’m sure you can. The taste and texture are very much like a plum but sweeter.

with all that oak woodwork the interior is more Craftsman than Prairie, yet the owners put 1940s/50s furniture in there. It is definitely NOT midcentury modern. I think they are confused. Having said that, I love the kitchen, especially the aqua tiled backsplash over the stove. Lovely house. Just needs more privacy from the neighbors.

Jermaine Thomas, whose very citizenship was once the subject of a U.S. Supreme Court case a decade ago, was forcibly removed from the United States last week and deported to Jamaica-a nation he had never seen-leaving him unequivocally stateless. Thomas, born on a U.S. Army base in Germany to a U.S. citizen father who served nearly two decades in the military, now faces a desolate future without a recognized nationality. "I'm looking out the window on the plane, and I'm hoping the plane crashes and I die," Thomas confided to The Chronicle from a hotel in Kingston, Jamaica, to his despair. He was reportedly shackled at his wrists and ankles during the journey to this unfamiliar land. According to court documents, Thomas is not a citizen of Germany, where he was born in 1986, nor of the United States, despite his father's extensive service. He also holds no citizenship in Jamaica, his father's birth country. Thomas's perplexing status stems from his birth abroad to a military parent, a legal grey area that led to his case reaching the nation's highest court. The complexities of his origins ultimately led to his expulsion from the country he had known mainly, despite his father's sacrifice. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/son-of-u-s-soldier-left-without-citizenship-deported-to-jamaica/ar-AA1HBiTO?ocid=TSHDHP

I’ve never seen this before. It’s a “Nona Auralia”. Apparently you can make stovetop sourdough bread in it. https://images.app.goo.gl/Fnypx I envision making bread while camping, maybe even over a fire!

Health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Monday praised a company that makes $7-a-pop meals that are delivered directly to the homes of Medicaid and Medicare enrollees. He even thanked Mom’s Meals for sending taxpayer-funded meals “without additives” to the homes of sick or elderly Americans. The spreads include chicken bacon ranch pasta for dinner and French toast sticks with fruit or ham patties. “This is really one of the solutions for making our country healthy again,” Kennedy said in the video, posted to his official health secretary account, after he toured the company’s Oklahoma facility last week. But an Associated Press review of Mom’s Meals menu, including the ingredients and nutrition labels, shows that the company’s offerings are the type of heat-and-eat, ultraprocessed foods that Kennedy routinely criticizes for making people sick. The meals contain chemical additives that would render them impossible to recreate at home in your kitchen, said Marion Nestle, a nutritionist at New York University and food policy expert, who reviewed the menu for The AP. Many menu items are high in sodium, and some are high in sugar or saturated fats, she said. https://apnews.com/article/rfk-jr-ultraprocessed-foods-diet-maha-trump-018a808efcf059eadfab2f8fc93fad4d

@wtg said in A pretty little camp: That’s a sweet house and I love the property. The stream is to die for. Propane refrigerator. Interesting! the camp i was caretaking in Maine years ago had a propane refrigerator and propane wall sconces for lighting. i loved how quiet it was. once you've lived off grid the electric noises in a conventional home can drive you bats.

Not American born? I don’t think constitutional rules like that matter anymore, at least not to the SCOTUS.

Yes, ballooning deficit's impacts can be (1) spread across the populace and (2) delayed such that the they are not felt by select demographics until after the mid-term election.

Heartbreaking. A grandparent on each side suffered from dementia. I met a very intelligent elderly man at a party recently who had many stories, but could not find the words he needed in order to tell them. She was lucky to have such a devoted family around her during this devastating progression. May your memories of her earlier life comfort you, and may you find the peace you and Sarah deserve.
