There's natural disasters too often to follow or at least to pay close attention.
I've had a goal of looking the famous novel about Lisbon being wiped by a tsunami killing maybe 3,000 people.
I've had this goal for months.
Maybe tomorrow will be the day I Google it but for some reason I keep letting it go.
Lahaina fire #1 changed my life probably physically though inhaling pesticide filled smoke all night in a hurricane trapped in a tiny house, and definitely socially and spiritually.
It's hard to explain.
Only 7 houses burned down and nobody died.
Lahaina fire #2 was an apocalypse.
Don't let anyone tell you the death count that night was approx 100 out of 7,000.
The town burned to the ground. Families were trapped in vehicles that exploded one after another.
People swam out to sea because they were on fire or in imminent danger of being on fire, etc.
Let's choose our least favorite way to die.
For me, fire. No question.
And to think, if ever I die in a fire I won't have the option of tying gunpowder to my head to blow it off before the flames consume me.
