    Thank you wtg, yes.
Like it a lot, could move in, but immediately remove most of the central lampshades.
And those three orbs above the kitchen island 🤪 (very Dr Who or Mysterons or something like that).

@AndyD I feel like lighting has gone over the top these days. Like, with an interesting light fixture, a little goes a long way. You don't need an unusual shade or statement light fixture in every room!

      Wtg, I can't view the link 😔.

Here's a nice little place in the country

Nothing to complain about on the surface about but I fear it has the potential to attract the type of characters found in Kubrick's The Shining (1980).

Or for roughly the same price in the Cotswolds here,

          No comparison. I'll take it.

@andyd You might know that Chicago is the most important city in the history of American architecture. It towers (sic) above New York. I don't know if you've been there or seen pictures but it's a beautiful city. The downtown area is especially awesome. We have nothing else that compares to it.

@andyd We only equaled you during the Gilded Age. We were only able to do it for two reasons. We had your (and other) history to simulate, and our industrialists had the wealth to travel Europe and buy everything related to furnishing a house, including architectural details, furniture, and art, at bargain prices.

Formal, perfect, if we lived in it without a housekeeper and gardener it would soon be less so.
Bit too big for us, but it is close to Northallerton, a really nice market town. Everything about it is what I'd love.

Yes, much too large for us. And I'm thinking it would take several housekeepers and a bunch of gardeners to maintain to the high standard of the current owners.

But fun to imagine living there!
