I came across this in a sofa showroom as a prop, would this have been made for a child?

Ok, on the basis of absolutely nothing, I would guess that it was made for a small space, rather than for a child specifically. All though I'm not there to get a sense of its actual size. Is it significantly shorter/lower to the ground than a regular piano? If so, then maybe it was made for a child?

It's interesting to see either way though.

Yes it was lower to the ground. I suppose a wealthy family could have had it made.

Ahh, then probably made for a child. How interesting. I wonder if it was a one-off? Or if at some point there were tons of them...
