May I Suggest

May I suggest that we cut back on the number of political and current event posts on WTF? It’s all overwhelming, crushingly important, and completely incomprehensible. But I go to WTF to escape all of that. It’s that or toss my phone in the commode.
Gardens, cooking, pianos, music, grandchildren,, landscaping, community events, weather, houses for sale, snowblower tips, concerts, household, hints, history, scientific advances.
Jesus!
Anything but the gawdawful mess we find ourselves in. This too will pass. I lived through Vietnam and I know stuff.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Hi, Steve,
I won't be able to separate the gloom stuff from the pleasant stuff and not post about the gloom stuff.
Pease consider I'm interested in current events and political topics, but to my point, I don't have another community of informed, insightful people who I can talk to about these topics.
I'm sorry I don't know how to say this in a way that would sound humble because I don't mean it to be arrogant but most people are uniformed and dumb.
I appreciate your post. I will try to post less than I have about these topics.
TBH, I have less and less to say because I'm feeling more and more like-- what can you say?
TBH, I'm finding there are many times when I can't say what I want without cursing like a sailor. So I don't say anything because this isn't the place for a lack of decorum.
Here's what I suggest-- I suggest we try to make it clear in our thread titles if a thread is about current events or politics, giving all of us the the option not to read them or to not read them on any given day.

Whatever gets posted in that vein tends to just go tribal, and we have known each others' basic positions on that for 20+ years. In neither forum do I see much of it that is new or balanced and I prefer construction and cooking threads.
It is much worse today as Trump tends to suck the oxygen out of every situation. But you are right, this will pass either by vote or end of life and hopefully we will get back to sensible, qualified candidates. Term limits would go a long way toward that.

With you Steve. We humans are weird in the things we're attracted to. I think the days started better watching Captain Kangaroo than listening to the news. There's some comfort in that. Best to get out of our houses - and take a walk in the forest - or look at the stars from time-to-time for a counterpoint to the madness that exists outside. Find a quiet place to retreat to from time-to-time.
