Well, I broke down and bought them.

I want to be able to listen to my music.

I'm tired of listening to my drug addled, vulgar, bitter, abusive roommate.

I've probably got three months before I can move.

Sure, with the cost of living, I could have made 100 other choices.

    I don't care.

I'm off to buy a "dongle" because my Motorola Edge 2024 has no headphone jack.

      My "dongle" arrived. Lol.

The Grado items will be sent FedEx from Brooklyn for free.

The last free FedEx shipment of mine from Hawaii still hasn't arrived. Iirc, it can take up to 10 days.

I have OluKai Ohana sandals coming. I'm going to use my current ones when I'm working outside and don't have to worry about getting them wet. They can get wet but at this point it's not helping.

They are worn on the bottom. That's not much of a problem, but they're a couple years old and inevitably they become too loose because the material between the big toe and the next one stretches or gets pulled out of the footbed slightly or both, when the sandal's front and back get pulled up off the ground over and again.

      Sandals> Ohana

They have the best footbed of any shoe I know. It's ergonomically molded to the shape of your foot. I wish they'd use it in their other products.

      @AdagioM , you're probably familiar with OluKai.

Drug addled roommate came home with a friend, got high, and went in his room, even though roommate lives in the living room. The friend left after a few hours, and after he left, roommate sat in the living room playing his bass heavy Bose speaker and singing until he left the house a few minutes ago around 1 p.m.

I blocked him on my phone. I don't want to read his recriminations, self-pity, and whining.

His main point these days seems to be that all I had to do to get money (and it's a relatively modest amount anyway) was to be born.

I didn't invent the idea of leaving money to linear descendants. And, truly, being born is one thing. Surviving for almost 60 years is another. And, then, of course, is the grief.

"Rude" in the dictionary should have a picture of roommate's face next to it.

Thanks for letting me vent. I got no sleep. I don't feel well because of it, and it happens every day. I can't wait to be rid of this stress.

Oh, the drama! It's not even good drama.

Roommate bought a $60 item at Walmart. He spent the day accusing me of throwing the receipt away to be malignant.

He found it in one of the console drawers where I said I would have put it if he had given it to me.

        Jesus.

Sounds like moving day can't come fast enough.

Enjoy your music. Ignore toxic people. Well, as much as you can for the next 3 months.

I got "the cans" yesterday. It's going to take me a few days or weeks to evaluate them. I will. My first impression is they are more "metallic" at the high end than expected and lack warmth, but like I said I need to spend more time listening to different genres of music at different volumes.

The build quality is excellent, much better than the past. The cord isn't two fused wires wrapped in plastic. It's two wires wrapped in medium weight, tightly braided cord. The cord doesn't get tangled up. There's foam under the piece that goes over your head. The ear piece adjustments, up and down, are stronger and more precise (very '50's), and although the $50 cushions moving the drivers away from the ears would have been better, the $20 version is a good improvement.

This is my first XR 80. I've owned a series of XR 60's my adult life. They used to be $69.99 and moved to $79.99. Now they're $99.99. These were $124.99. I'm curious to know if there's any qualitative difference the sound. It might be impossible to reach a conclusion because I assume technology has improved.

Grado is known for its midrange with neither the bass nor the highs having over-emphasis.

One interesting thing I noticed is they advertise and have always they're a long time family company in Brooklyn but the actual packaging says Statin Island. Maybe they established a Statin Island factory?
