Many seniors get cheaper medicine from Canada. That might become harder.

Shifting U.S. trade policy has created uncertainty and led to higher prices for Americans who fill their prescriptions abroad.

Linda Klonsky usually orders her prescription eye drops from a Canadian pharmacy that charges $250 for a three-month supply.

But that came to an abrupt halt late this summer when it came time for her to reorder, as the Trump administration’s latest trade edict prompted dozens of international postal services to suspend shipments to the United States. With little choice, the 75-year-old turned to a CVS near her home in Silver Spring, Maryland, and bought 30 days’ worth of similar drops for $740 — nearly nine times what she usually pays.

“I’m being squeezed between the American drug company and Trump’s tariffs,” she said.

Thousands of U.S.-bound packages shipped by UPS are trapped at hubs across the country, unable to clear the maze of new customs requirements imposed by the Trump administration.

As packages flagged for customs issues pile up in UPS warehouses, the company told NBC News it has begun “disposing of” some shipments.

Frustrated UPS customers describe waiting for weeks and trying to make sense of scores of conflicting tracking updates from the world’s largest courier.

“I’ve never seen anything like this before,” Matthew Wasserbach, brokerage manager of Express Customs Clearance, said of the UPS backlog. “It’s totally unprecedented.”

They are a tax on Americans said one U Penn economist and he added that this was Economics 101.

Prices haven't gone down, BTW. The economy is ****.

The prices of mobile homes in my park keep falling though by some miracle. "We" practically drove the Canadians out of the market. I can't think of any other reason for it. Beautiful, fully renovated places are going for a song.

Other than this anomaly, "affordable" housing in this metro area is a joke.

I was thinking of how terrible the economy was during the Biden administration when I wrote that post. It seems to keep being terrible.

The buzzword here is-- "workforce housing." The goal is to have teachers, nurses, etc. not be homeless so they can fill jobs but never be able to save so much as a $1 to buy their own homes.

            China isn't creating this mess.
