Senior Prom

The idea is basically this: a re-do prom for seniors (age50+) LGBTQ+ people who, in their youth, had to bring prom dates of the opposite sex to hide their true orientation. Now that times have changed, this "Senior Prom" let them re-experience prom as their true selves.
The attendees are reported as mostly between 60 and 80 years old.

I never went to prom. I was very punk in high school and didn’t really fit in with my classmates. In my junior year, I got kicked out of a different dance (not prom, I can’t remember what it was called) for how I was dressed. But I don’t know that I need something to make up for missing out on that so-called essential high school experience…
