The Justice Department on Wednesday fired Maurene Comey from the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, where she most recently led the prosecution of Sean "Diddy" Combs, multiple sources told ABC News.
A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan declined to comment. A spokesperson for the Justice Department did not immediately respond to a call for comment.
Comey was a highly regarded assistant U.S. attorney who successfully prosecuted Ghislaine Maxwell, the former associate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and multiple gang members before the split verdict earlier this month in the trial of Combs, who was convicted of a prostitution-related charge but acquitted of more serious charges.
Comey was also involved in the office's case against Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 at New York City's Metropolitan Correctional Center while he was awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.
Comey is the daughter of former FBI director James Comey, who President Donald Trump fired during his first term in office because he initiated the Russia investigation.
According to sources, Trump privately vented about having a Comey work in his administration.

Presumably the FBI and DOJ have tons of interview material with Epstein's victims. But will they release that? Of course not. Instead...
I thought this might be the next step and an obvious out for DJT. Get the "right" testimony from Maxwell and suddenly she draws the get of out of jail card....
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will meet with convicted sex trafficker and Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell in the next several days, Attorney General Pam Bondi said Tuesday morning.

Congress will subpoena Ghislaine Maxwell, the imprisoned sex trafficker who was a close associate of the notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, to testify amid a political firestorm over the Trump administration’s decision not to release its remaining Epstein files.
The Tennessee Republican Tim Burchett introduced a motion to compel Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year-sentence in a Florida prison for crimes related to the Epstein case, to testify before the House oversight committee.
The move appears to skirt an announcement early on Tuesday that officials from the Department of Justice are also planning to meet with Maxwell.
“We got to send a message to these dirt bags,” Burchett said in a statement posted on X, referring to the list of clients and other Epstein enablers that are assumed to be included in the remaining Epstein files, the details of which are not publicly known.
“We’ve just got to get to the bottom of this thing, folks. It’s four years and we don’t need to tolerate this stuff any more.”
Soon after Burchett’s announcement, Mike Johnson, the Republican House speaker said he is shutting down operation in the chamber early, sending lawmakers home even sooner ahead of a five-week summer recess.
They were scheduled to leave Washington for their districts on 24 July and be out through the month of August – but will now leave a day earlier.
The decision comes as Democrats and a handful of Republicans continue to press for files related to Epstein, sending regular legislative schedules into chaos.
“We’re not going to play political games with this,” Johnson said at a news conference.

Jeffrey Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, who had been serving a 20-year prison sentence in Florida, has been moved to a lower-security federal prison camp in Texas.
“We can confirm, Ghislaine Maxwell is in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) at the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Bryan in Bryan, Texas,” BOP spokesperson Donald Murphy said in a statement to CNN.
The move comes a week after Maxwell met in private with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche at the US attorney’s office in Tallahassee. Details of that meeting have not been made public, though her lawyer has said that Maxwell “honestly answered every question that Mr. Blanche asked.”
Murphy declined to give any explanation for Maxwell’s move. The Justice Department has not responded to questions from CNN.

Everyone can use Google to find pictures of Bill Clinton with girls (I don't mean teenagers; I mean young girls).

Vice President JD Vance on Sunday accused the Biden administration of refusing to release files on Jeffrey Epstein because of the financier’s connections to Democrats.
