We lived in a house with an enclosed courtyard for about 5 years during the 1980’s.

It was lovely.

[edit] This house, actually. I think I’ve posted about it before. I see the new owner has completely overhauled it and rather nicely to boot. It didn’t look much like that when we lived there but the courtyard was nice. When we were there there was a slatted wood patio cover over it.

I think we paid $85K with a 30 year note at 10%. It was a stretch at the time but now I wish we had kept it. Nearly impossible to heat/cool, even in CA, but on nice days it was a great space.
