Gem of the day; jewelry as well

Well, you like design and craftsmanship so it makes sense!

This was in the FT magazine today
I'm not usually a fan of complex or large rings, but this blue diamond with whites is a cracker; I'd buy if I could.

Spectacular, Andy.
I'd have a huge, unmovable vault in my home if I won the lottery.

Red spinel is probably my favorite gemstone along with diamonds.
I became interested in red spinels when I read about them and saw pictures of them with carved inscriptions done for Moghul rulers.
I far prefer red spinels to rubies.

I like the store Vivienne from Chateau Love runs online. She sells antique jewelry. Nothing exorbitant in price, just really nice. There's a pair of mother of pearl cufflinks 4 or 5 pages down that I like. She has quite a turnover of merchandise so there's always a lot of "SOLD" items but she stocks it frequently.

Siberian amethyst.
Do you see? It's not the same color as what we think of amethyst. It's not close.

I know the pendant would have nowhere to sit if the chain were longer.
I just have a personal dislike of short chains.
I also think the pendant is too big for the chain.
I'd wear this as a brooch.

@Bernard I looked through this and read the descriptions for a couple hours. I like all the different periods of jewelry and some of these pieces were beautiful and the prices incredible.

@Daniel. my ring is a 2 carat old mine cut. Not colorless, but I don’t know where I put the papers for it so I couldn’t tell you how it’s graded. It’s my grandmother’s stone. I love the flat culet! It definitely sparkles in low light; it was cut for candlelight/gaslight times. I don’t wear it much; I’d rather wear my wedding ring and anniversary band on my other hand. But I love it for the sentimental value, even though I never met my maternal grandmother.

@AdagioM I think it's my favorite cut. I like emerald cut for diamonds and many gems. But if I could have one diamond to choose then this would be it. You have a nice heirloom. I'm sure you enjoy it. I know I would...

@AdagioM I hear you. Some jewelry looks good on me and I love it when that happens. It's such a comfortable feeling.
I always think: will this fit my everyday life?, what kind of attention will this attract?, what will it be like to actually own this piece?
Very few pieces fit my criteria. My Cartier 1895 18 kt was perfect. Sadly, I lost it a long time ago.
I plan to replace it with same or the variant in platinum, or one other Cartier ring,...
maybe a VC&A trace chain (made for Zodiac collection)...
maybe a chain link bracelet,...
and hopefully a small collection of gems around the $500 price point.
Maybe I won't buy anything. Lord knows.
