Apart from so much of the classical genre that moves me, a few more contemporary artists that move(d) me are Passenger, Adele, John Grant, Marianne Faithful. And more.

@Bernard I like Adele too, a lot! And lots of other popular artists.... There are some Japanese "pop" songs that have wonderful lyrics, songs I remember from when I first moved to Japan.... those are awfully nostalgic for me
