Yes, typically in the field among tall grasses.
@Bernard ooooh, I found the blue-eyed grass I planted years ago, and it's doing great. I think I need to move it to a sunnier spot. I didn't realize they only open up in the sun

We just came back from a quick trip to Missoula, where I saw blooming while hiking: wild roses, mock orange, lupine, and blue camas. Also a few things I'm not sure of the name. It is actually a bit early for these things to bloom, and we already have wildfires and smoke here. I think it is going to be a very long, hot summer.

Mock orange? Pittosporum? Very popular as a landscape plant
in CA. I didn’t know it could survive cold.Maybe there are different kinds.
[edit]. Yes there are. Pittosporum is the one I know. The one you have in the wild is probably Philadelphus. They’re both called mock orange.

yes, ours is philadelphus lewisii, IIRR.

I really like the color of that Clematis!

I love Clematis. I put one in, bright purple, when I first moved here. It is not doing so good this year and maybe it's time to replace it.
This crossed my path this evening and I really loved it. Thought maybe some here would appreciate it and perhaps get inspiration from it...

We have two clemati on either side of our front walk. The purple one is struggling a bit but looks better than it ever has. The other one was spectacular this year for the first time. We had a lot of rain--and we had to cut down a tree so they are getting more light this year.

That is lovely.
Don't think I've said we went to an open garden thing last weekend (entrance fee goes to charity) in Great Langton, N Yorkshire.
All agreed it was the nicest house& garden we've visited. Here's a few photosEntrance to garden view

The back yard was a mass of roses
I went to their loo in the old backyard washroom and passed a stick barometer and bird frame mirror, both from the early 1800's.
The entrance/exit by the back yard was through a low ancient toolshed, and had swallows flying in & out feeding their fledglings.The owners farm the adjacent land, this garden is her (30 year) hobby. There were jersey cows 50 yards from the front door.
So beautiful. -

At Singapore Airport the first time in '93 I could hardly believe the thousands of orchids were real and my then fiance was highly amused as I went over to check.
