Advice re paper for a framed print
-
The graphic on the cover of my book is something Mr. SK and I made together, and in honor of the book coming out on paperback, I want to get a large-ish printout of it and frame it and hang it in my office. It's a person's head (from the side) with all the lines, IOW the head and the hair, made out of kanji, the background is white at the top and it has a gradient fill that becomes red at the bottom. I'm thinking a traditional frame (simple black) with a white mat, behind glass. Nothing fancy or expensive for the frame. So now my question!
What kind of paper should I use?
One option is photo paper, it looks like I could get high gloss, semi-gloss or satin.
It's going to be behind glass, so I don't think high gloss would be a good option. One print shop I talked to recommended satin photo paper, which the guy said is good for photos.Or, I could get it printed on "smooth uncoated paper" -- which is something I hadn't heard of before. The other local print shop I talked to recommended the smooth uncoated option, which the guy said is good for art projects.
So, does anyone have any advice or experience? @Jodi or anyone else?
