The Department of Homeland Security has budgeted as much as $200 million for its new ad campaign warning migrants in the country illegally that “we will find you and deport you,” according to documents reviewed by Semafor.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced the two-year “nationwide and international multimillion-dollar ad campaign,” which includes TV, radio and digital spots, on Monday evening. In the initial ad shared by Noem, she praises President Donald Trump for “securing the border” before telling migrants that “we will hunt you down” for breaking laws.

“Criminals are not welcome in the United States,” Noem says in the ad.

Good grief. And around here they're shown multiple times during the news hour. Why didn't this make DOGE's cut list? How many migrants watch local TV, in English, anyway?

There's a new one out, with Noem thanking Dear Orange One for his leadership.

Only the best for this administration.

Kristi Noem is not having the best week.

The Secretary of Homeland Security drew scrutiny on Tuesday when she could not define “habeas corpus.” Then on Thursday she used her official government X account to repost a lawsuit against her department that was voluntarily dismissed and wrote “Suck It.”

“You’re 53 years old,” Josh Larky wrote. “Please take this down.”

“Suck what, Madam Secretary?” James Lindsay responded.

“I support the Trump Administration and think y’all are doing a good job,” another person wrote. “But this post? Really? It’s embarrassing.”

We mute the TV every time one of these ads comes on.

          $200 million?

Migrants and Democrats are skeptical of Noem's $200 million 'self-deportation' TV ad campaign

The DHS secretary praises the ads and says thousands of undocumented migrants have used a new app that helps them return home. Critics question the effort's cost and effectiveness.

Migrants and Democrats, though, question the effectiveness of the campaign, which remains unclear six months after its launch. Noem, who promised last month to release the exact number of people who have self-deported using the app, hasn’t done so.

The Department of Homeland Security didn’t respond to repeated requests for the figures.

Democrats question the cost of the TV ads, as well. And undocumented migrants and advocates told NBC News they don’t trust Noem, her ads and Customs and Border Protection’s new CBP Home app.

“You just can’t get on a plane tomorrow and just go,” said Lauren, a mother of two who lives in Ohio with her undocumented husband and asked to be identified only by her first name. She expressed anger at Noem, saying that the family doesn’t plan to use the CBP app and that self-deportation will take them close to a year.

“You know, we have a home. We have to sell this home, get rid of everything that’s in this home,” she added. “It’s just, you can’t just leave like she says.”

                That was just for practice.

Now she sends ICE to chase down murderers and rapists. You know, the ones picking strawberries in a field.
