Just got back from the Orchid Show at the Cleveland Botanical Garden. It’s a pretty big deal - crowded every year.

We brought Jack, who while not particularly interested in the orchids, seemed to enjoy himself. An ice cream at the cafe and some toy binoculars from the gift shop didn’t hurt.

    So many beautiful displays!

Someone must have really hated this PSO. Or maybe they’re seasoning it for destination:

They keep a chameleon the glass house. He was particularly colorful today.

My wife has a bunch of orchids. We both celebrate when one is flowering.

        Nice pics!

I love orchids. Used to have a half dozen or so different species, but trying to keep each satisfied according to their needs is quite a task without a greenhouse. I'm down to four now.

The New Hampshire Orchid Society show is next weekend and I haven't made up my mind about attending... the temptation to buy news ones will be great.

Gorgeous. I got a couple of sad looking orchids from a friend, I changed their bark, I put them into clear pots with air holes, I got one of them to bloom (a first) but now they both don’t look so good. I can grow a lot of things, but orchids don’t seem to be one of those things.

@Steve-Miller looks like a lovely display! Except for the piano-shaped-object... 😆

When we visit the orchid farm near us, I take photos and spouse brings home a few. No matter what we've promised before entering, we walk out with more. We had over 50 at one time. Mrs. Kluurs spent a half day each weekend with them - but that became too much. We're down to about 20 at the moment - and diligence has diminished.

@Steve-Miller - Looks like a great show. Thanks for the pics.

I haven't been in years, but the Chicago Botanic Garden also has an orchid show. I loved looking at the various types of plants. I used to grow some of the more common varieties of orchids and had reasonably good luck getting them to bloom. I was even the proud owner of a plant that Mrs. @kluurs gave me when I visited their home for a piano party.

I've been winnowing down my house plants little by little. The orchids were the most demanding care-wise, so I ended up selling them on craigslist probably 10 years ago. I still have offshoots of a ficus that I gave Mr wtg when we first started dating in the late 1970s. And the offspring of a clivia that I bought at Home Depot in the 90s. I grew new plants from the seeds. Speaking of which, I need to divide and repot those clivia and find them new homes...
