That's weird that that letter to the editor comes from Idaho. One of the most regressive states in the country.

@Mark No kidding. @CHAS posted an article in the thread I started about this very topic. From his link:
Members of Congress made their concerns about the NNSA firings known to the Energy Department, a Hill staffer told CNN. A person with knowledge of the matter told CNN that senators visited Energy Sec. Chris Wright to express concern about the NNSA cuts.
My dad used to work at Argonne National Lab, and for a number of years he was on loan to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. That agency keeps an eye on nuclear reactors and other civilian nuclear uses. He took his job very seriously. He'd be appalled to hear this is happening on the military side of the nuclear equation.

I used to scream at the top of my lungs that we should not be ratcheting up the power of the executive branch.
However, I never thought it would get this bad.
A bootlicking legislative and judiciary is part of the current situation.
A perfect storm that seemingly has the ability to destroy this country.

Yep.
I would imagine that America is at its most vulnerable right now from outside forces. (To say nothing of the threats from within)

Here's a Nazi.
And Trump just sits there when his kid tells him he's "not the real president" on an open mic.
Edit, sorry, this video is about how Musk is a serial con artist.
I meant to post one showing Musk's Nazi salute.

@Mark said in U.S. Dept of Education is the next target:
This is really scary.
It gets worse:
In an email sent to employees at NNSA and obtained by NBC News, officials wrote, “The termination letters for some NNSA probationary employees are being rescinded, but we do not have a good way to get in touch with those personnel.”
The individuals the letter refers to had been fired on Thursday and lost access to their federal government email accounts. NNSA, which is within the Department of Energy and oversees the nation’s nuclear stockpile, cannot reach these employees directly and is now asking recipients of the email, “Please work with your supervisors to send this information (once you get it) to people’s personal contact emails.”

The way they are deciding who to fire is crazy.
My section of DOJ hires 1 or 2 law school graduates each year. Otherwise, you have to have at least four years of experience to be hired at all. The people we hire are crazy good because there is so much competition.
If they fire our probationary attorneys (those who have been on the job for less than 2 years), we will literally be firing the best and the brightest. This might include a person who hits 2 years on Feb. 27 and who is a rock star.
If you want to improve the federal workforce, why not do it on merit?
And why do they have to be so joyful and incredibly mean about it, taunting people in the worst moment of their career?

There is help for probationary employees who were terminated
Federal employment attorneys say probationary employees who were fired can apply for unemployment insurance and have other options for appeal.
