Why think a week might best be forgotten?!
Why not just be happy people are contributing to the new site and following the rules?
The basic rule of WTF is respect. It was promulgated at the start of WTF.
There have been times various people more than a few and including myself have broken the basic rule.
We have collectively and wisely learned the rule gets broken sometimes. We no longer have or need a formal moderating process. We move on when the rule is broken.
The consensus was already that we didn't need moderators when the WTF moderators stepped down. This consensus has naturally carried over to this forum Ax thoughtfully and generously started.
I think sometimes people have been single out and disrespected for no better reason than that they have expressed their personal opinions. I think this is wrong. I think it antithetical to the principles that have always formed the basis of this forum.
Singling people out, being rude, cursing people out, and making snide remarks about anyone for expressing their personal opinion is wrong no matter who does it.
I don't know but I guess this platform has an ignore feature. I choose to read everyone's posts. I have always believed however that if a platform has any feature then there is nothing wrong with using it.
We were never meant to agree on everything and anyone who tries to interfere in others expressing their personal opinions would be well advised to take a different tact. @wtg

I was referring to what has transpired during the first 10 days of the administration, which I loosely referred to as “the last week”. It’s 10 days I wished the country hadn’t lived through and I wish I could forget. It had nothing whatsoever to do with anybody on the forum and was meant as some quasi-humor.
-
I don't think it is in any way possible for the best for posts to disappear although I understand it was neccececary.
Your comment was ambiguous if not gratuitous. The quasi-humor went over my head
But I accept your explanation of your intent.
Who better to explain one's intent than oneself?
I stand by my critique of the dynamics of the board in which I include myself as I mentioned.
I haven't always lived up to the principle of respect. I won't pretend otherwise.
Still, I take exception to your habit of entering into conversations with me and then making pronouncements that you are leaving the conversation eg "leaving this conversation once again, " clearly implying that I have said or done something wrong. I would prefer it if you stopped doing this, simply stopped posting replies to me if and when you want to, or chose not to engage with me in the first place.
I rarely make personal attacks, wtg, and when I do you will know it because it won't be subtle.
I don't claim to be a victim. I've had 27 years of posting at 3 different fora without interruption. I can take care of myself.
However, I take exception to insinuations, lies, and rude behavior based on, not reasoned disagreement with any of my opinions, but based on the fact that anyone wants a "safe space" where everyone agrees with everyone else and nobody has to read a post about any topic and/or opinion they might find unpleasant to read.
This is not WTF. This is not any PW related forum. It never has been.
I'll give you my opinion since you gave us yours. I couldn't care any less about a software issue making my posts disappear. This is an ephemeral medium. No post posted on a posting board will not disappear into the either one day.

Wow. Thanks for taking care of this @Ax!!

Maybe the last week is best forgotten….
OTOH, it’s awfully hard not to think like a conspiracy theorist and point out the date and the bulk of our discussions…..

Apparently we don't know each other as well as I thought we did. I tend to be open about letting people know where I'm coming from. Others send those signals in more subtle ways.
There was no intention to tell you that did something wrong. There were a few times when I felt I that further discussion wasn't going to be productive, at least for me, and it's my normal IRL response to politely let the other person know that I think we're at an impasse and that it's probably better if we don't continue the conversation, or at least that I don't intend to. Sometimes there are things that even friends are better off not discussing; we all need to find our comfort zone. It's my way of letting someone know where I'm coming from so we can improve future interactions, hopefully for both people involved.
Things are more complicated online, too, as there are multiple people participating in a discussion, not just two. I might like to continue the discussion in a thread with others rather than dropping out entirely. I was trying to let you know that my future comments were not going to be directed to you. We're all different in how we interact with other people. I'm sorry my approach caused you distress.
I would prefer it if you stopped doing this, simply stopped posting replies to me if and when you want to, or chose not to engage with me in the first place.
Sure, no problem. It's good you said something. I learned something about you in this interaction and I'll do my best to adjust my approach so things are better for both of us.
Onward and upward!

I hadn't thought of it from that perspective, but you're right!!

SK, Lol.
I wasn't paying close attention. I try to follow the AA or the 12 steps program's idea (are they the same thing?)-- take what you like and leave the the rest.
I'd guess most of the discussions have been about Trump? I think it's important to know what he's doing.
BTW, I'm sure you know the meaning of conspiracy. It's when two or more people conspire to carry out a plan. Of course, it has negative connotation. It's assumed the plan is sinister.
OTOH, "conspiracy theory" is a prerogative term used in discussions to dismiss anything said about conspiracies and to malign a person who discusses one.
This is just me but it is easier for me to discuss them (or think about them and not share my thoughts) than to ignore them.
