Gilded Age Mansion

The interior seems to glow because of the wood.
The interior hasn't fallen into disrepair, been put to a different use, or needed restoration from the looks of it.
I like the exterior, the central hall, and the pipe organ.

Spectacular!

Incredible. I shall require a few servants and maintenance staff.

The problem with gilded age mansions is that they require gilded age incomes to maintain them.

You'd have to be a billionaire.
I met a few billionaires when I worked as a driver. I drove them back and forth from their estates in Millbrook and Quaker Hill to their apartments in the City and back and forth to the airports.
None of the houses I saw came close to being as impressive as this.
I wouldn't buy it if I could, though. 50,000 square feet?
No way!

I stand corrected, again. It was sold to the Catholic Church, at some point, apparently.
This video is fascinating. It tells the history of the place and shows many historical photographs.
You can see the difference between the interiors today vs. how they looked in their heyday.

Darlington, stunning, mad, beautiful, impractical!
Made me smile as it's something of a contrast to the town of the same name down the road from us...
until I realised it must have been named because of the railway connection.
