I refuse to answer those questions on the grounds that I don't know the answers.
The article just scratches the surface, but I found it interesting because the model is just so different from ours. Not sure how many of the approaches we could incorporate into the US system, but it's good to at least consider some out-of-the-box (for us) ideas.
If I come across any more in-depth analysis of Singapore's system, I'll post it here.

Community Health Assist Scheme
The Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) enables all Singapore Citizens, including Pioneer Generation and Merdeka Generation cardholders, to receive subsidies for medical and/or dental care at participating General Practitioner (GP) and dental clinics.

I wonder if it really is that different than ours. We pay for our own health insurance, either at work or out of pocket, and there's a lot of charity for the poor. Seems like the only difference is who takes the money. I'm sure there are big differences in the details.

I used to believe strongly in universal health and know quite a bit about its different models in practice until I realized I wouldn't see anything close to it in my lifetime in the US. Then I kind of stopped caring as much. A person only has so much energy.
