She's lucky in at least one respect, most librarians (over here at least) don't get a summer break.

I think it's ridiculous. I've always thought it was ridiculous. You get paid for a year and take summer off?

The teachers' unions most have been powerful back in the day to set this up.

People will say employees must be retained and children need the summer off.

It still doesn't sit right with me somehow.

        Public school teacher, librarian, admin.

        It's been this way forever.

Here home schooled 5 years are finishing toilet training so it could be worse.

Barcelona. I’m there for a conference but my wife and her parents, already in Spain since last Saturday, will be there for a couple of days of it before they go on to Italy.

@andyd Yeah, well I'm a little jealous of your dog sitting.

I'd like to have a dog for a few days and give it back.

There’s still dregs of Arabic in modern Spanish. The exclamation ‘ojalá’ comes to mind.

                    So we got the mafias.

                    That explains a lot.

                      Interesting

Consider how mixed English is. It's famous for it.
