Some details about the process they’re considering and the timing. Gift link.

All behind paywalls. But I did read an article at ms.now about ME's party executive director's comments. IMO, it's too heavy handed and they could shoot themselves in the foot.
“Unfortunately, Graham Platner’s team has repeatedly reached out to us in an attempt to put their thumb on the scale of what this process looks like. We have repeatedly reiterated to Graham Platner’s team that they have no role in determining our next Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate, nor in determining what this process looks like.
“We have also reiterated that Graham Platner must drop out of this race, so that Democrats in Maine can focus on defeating Susan Collins this November.
"They have no role", "Platner must drop out". First off, Platner does not need to drop out. It is entirely his prerogative. "They have no role" is confrontational and entirely the wrong approach in this delicate situation.
I am on the side of having the voters decide, but they can't just brush Platner aside, he has leverage. They need tact, and should try to work with him while emphasizing that the voters should have a say. To say he has no role is not good, it's antagonistic.

It’s true it’s up to him whether to drop out. If he is completely amoral he could stay in. Presumably the chance of him winning, while tiny, is non-zero, whereas if he drops out the dopamine hits are gone for ever and he just goes back to his old life but with everyone knowing his very dirty laundry.

It seems beyond obvious that if his primary goal were beating Collins he would have already bowed out quickly and let the voters choose someone they feel is best suited to do that.
The fact that he hasn’t shows he’s more interested in maintaining a cult of personality and winning a party factional war.

From a piece in WaPo
Platner’s campaign team held a call Wednesday afternoon in which leadership sounded resigned to the idea that the Democrat’s bid could be ending soon, said a Democrat close to Platner. The campaign staff was told that Platner would speak about the future of his run Wednesday night.
He could drop out of the race as early as Wednesday, probably by prerecorded video, said a second person close to Platner’s team who, like others in this article, spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid alienating fellow Democrats in what has become an increasingly tense situation. One of Platner’s key advisers, Morris Katz, flew up to Maine from New York on Tuesday to discuss his withdrawal, said the person. But Platner, whose political support has evaporated since he was accused of sexual assault on Monday, has struggled with the decision, people close to him said, and has said he would like input on the replacement process, leaving the timing of any announcement unclear.
“It is him who is wanting to hold on,” the first Democrat said. “He is having to come to terms that his dream is dead. The show is over, this is done.”

This disability fraud allegation is unproven to say the least but other than that….
I know it was hard to see this coming at the time, but in hindsight a guy who invented a fake backstory to pretend he was working class despite being the son of a corporate attorney and failed at literally everything he tried his entire life to the point the totality of his income came from federal disability fraud and a fake nepobaby oyster farming business that only made money because his largest customer was his mommy's restaurant may have been a poor choice to run for Senate against an three-term incumbent who's never won by less than 8.6%

@jon-nyc Wow, did not know that. Platner had a pulse and looked better than he is.l
Hopefully the guy who changed his candidacy for congress from senate to representative when Platner moved in will not be chosen. Jordan Wood whines for campaign funds. The whinging is painful. Hopefully someone better will be substituted.
