Office chairs... at work we could choose:
    You want armrests or not?
    High medium or low back?
Wheels on five legs, with a protective mat underneath?
Fully adjusting up down, back height, tilt?
Colour fabric or leatherette or leather?

Or for home get a solid nice looking chair that fits you e.g. with three solid legs and no adjustments?

I've always fancied a captains chair.

    That's quite a rug.

My sister just told me she's been to Newby Hall twice, the gardens are worth revisiting in different seasons.

I need it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I'm getting a new refrigerator, range, dishwasher, washer, and dryer. Getting these new is dumb luck. Getting a new washer and dryer is unheard of. The money for the washer and dryer can transfer to the desk.

Captain's chair? Not sure what one looks like. Off to look.

      Steelcase $$$

I would try Amazon on second thought.

      I didn't like them until I reached $1,700
and then I started to not like them again.

Would depend on your room of course, and you can get modern marine captain chairs, but these oldies appeal to me

I buy used; it saves tons of money.

            Herman Miller or Steelcase. Used.

The collapse of the office market has resulted in a glut of used office furniture. You should be able to pick one up at a used office furniture place for your under $200, and it will be the last chair you’ll ever need.

Is there a WB Mason store near you?

They do seem to be in FL, but they are footnoted.

              *Locations in this state serve

              as distribution for Masonville

              headquartered customers only

Same for my state. what does it mean?

Thanks, all. Considering your advice for sure. Trustee approved the home deal as of this morning. Car starts its trip on flatbed to me as soon as I can prove insurance. That will almost certainly be tomorrow. One more day...

I'm speaking up late to second the opinions about wool rugs. Quirt had quite a few nice wool Turkish-style rugs. (Not hand-tufted, I don't think.) When we bought a house together, we had three elderly incontinent animals. We had wood and tile floors and we needed them completely bare for the frequent cleanups. The rugs went in the garage. They stayed there for about seven years with no climate control, until we moved here.

Now we have young animals, and the rugs are the perfect colors and style for this house. I was nervous to see what condition they were in, but they were perfect. No stains. No fading. The pads were in bad shape, and that may be what protected the rugs from the elements, but the rugs were awesome.

Daniel, it sounds like you’re really moving forward toward a peaceful, blissfully uncomplicated life. That’s great.

                      Mik, Thank you.

I have about a million and a half things to get done but they will be.

Yep. Live there a while before you buy investment pieces. Bear in mind that the rug may - should even - become the color palate for the room or the house depending on how open it is.

FB Marketplace is a great place to find used furniture.

There's nothing like scoring a deal on something you really want and that you only pay 20% or less of retail for...it's like a treasure hunt!

My trustee told me you get the needs asap and the wants will follow.

I don't know if I mentioned this but my car is being put on a truck tomorrow and will get here this weekend.

I have a comprehensive list of who needs to be paid, the amount, the payment format, and the mailing address, for everything, with the exception of auto insurance, and I'll be done with that final task tonight or tomorrow.

Tomorrow I will put the list in order-- 1, 2, 3, etc. I'll send it in its completed form to my trustee.

The one thing we messed up on is she asked me to open my investment account. I needed to fund it with $25 to open it.

So then she sent a cashier's check for the yearly maximum of 20k and, of course, they had to reject it.

I told her I'll send her a figure adjusted for market daily closing so she doesn't have to do this one three times. Lol.

She doesn't have a fiduciary role with this account. It's for living expenses.

Yes, I'm enjoying this thread immensely but my 3.8k rug is something our investments would have to earn.

                                Two good points.

I'm especially mindful of the second because I don't want a lot of things and don't have a lot time or energy to devote to caring for them.
