Guess he needed a pick-me-up after last night's debacle.

President Donald Trump’s handpicked board voted on Thursday to rename Washington’s leading performing arts center as the Trump-Kennedy Center, the White House said.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the vote on social media, saying it was because of the “unbelievable work President Trump has done over the last year in saving the building. Not only from the standpoint of its reconstruction, but also financially, and its reputation.”

Trump, a Republican who’s chairman of the board, often refers to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which is named for a Democratic predecessor, as the “Trump Kennedy Center.”

Asked on Dec. 7 as he walked the red carpet for the Kennedy Center Honors program whether he would rename the venue after himself, Trump said such a decision would be up to the board.

Saving its reputation? Leavitt says these things with a straight face. Remarkable.

    An article published yesterday.

President Donald Trump’s handpicked board voted on Thursday to rename Washington’s leading performing arts center as the Trump-Kennedy Center, the White House said.

Nothing like tending to the important stuff. Website got changed yesterday. His name went on the building today.

    alt text

The name change wasn't on the agenda for the board, and people who objected to the change were muted out on the video call. A unanimous vote! This is like Putin winning an election with 99% of the vote...

And let's not forget the congratulations sent by Press Secretary Leavitt:

Congratulations to President Donald J. Trump, and likewise, congratulations to President Kennedy, because this will be a truly great team long into the future! The building will no doubt attain new levels of success and grandeur.

This is all a joke, right? We're going to wake up and realize it was just some really strange dream, right?

Yes. It is a karmic joke. No doubt.

        Good for them.

A planned Christmas Eve jazz concert at the Kennedy Center, a holiday tradition dating back more than 20 years, has been canceled. The show's host, musician Chuck Redd, says that he called off the performance in the wake of the White House announcing last week that President Donald Trump's name would be added to the facility.

"When I saw the name change on the Kennedy Center website and then hours later on the building, I chose to cancel our concert," Redd told The Associated Press in an email Wednesday. Redd, a drummer and vibraphone player who has toured with everyone from Dizzy Gillespie to Ray Brown, has been presiding over holiday "Jazz Jams" at the Kennedy Center since 2006, succeeding bassist William "Keter" Betts

A singer-songwriter is refusing to perform at the Trump-Kennedy Center after the venue’s name changed.

Kristy Lee announced Monday that she canceled her scheduled performance at the Washington, D.C., arts institution scheduled for Jan. 14, 2026. The move came days after President Donald Trump’s name was added to the former John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

“I don’t have much power, and I don’t run with the big dogs who do. I’m just a folk singer from Alabama, slinging songs for a living,” Lee wrote on social media. “Hell, my songs are really just my own diary set to music. They’re not polished or hit songs, but they’re my truth and nobody can take that from me. I’m proud of that.”

“I believe in the power of truth, and I believe in the power of people. And I’m gonna stand on that side forever. I won’t lie to you, canceling shows hurts. This is how I keep the lights on. But losing my integrity would cost me more than any paycheck,” she continued. “When American history starts getting treated like something you can ban, erase, rename, or rebrand for somebody else’s ego, I can’t stand on that stage and sleep right at night. America didn’t get built by branding. It got built by people showing up and doing the work. And the folks who carry it don’t need their name on it, they just show up. That’s all I’m doing here. I’m showing up.”

Her post went viral, generating hundreds of thousands of likes, shares and comments. She thanked fans for their support and said she plans to instead perform virtually at home on Jan. 14.

Donald Trump waged a teeny, tiny battle with a binder clip Tuesday morning during a live TV press conference.

While speaking to reporters at the White House during a briefing televised by CNN, the president again hit out at Joe Biden's administration, repeating to attendees once again a false claim that Biden actually lost the 2020 presidential election.

Then, as he held up a "book on accomplishments" his team has allegedly achieved during the first year of his second term in office, Trump nearly shut his finger in a large binder clip holding the thick stack of documents together.

The 79-year-old slightly recoiled as a loud snapping noise was heard after he removed the clip from the papers, while he exclaimed, "Ooh, I'm glad my finger wasn't in that sucker. That could've done some damage."

Still, he assured reporters, "You know what? I wouldn't have shown the pain."

He lingered on the topic for the next few seconds, asking the room, "Did you hear that?" before calling the snap "nasty" in the moment.

"But, I would not have shown the pain," he reiterated. "I would've acted like nothing happened as my finger fell off. That was nasty. I think somebody did that."

He then looked around the room and pointed toward a member of the press, smiling as he said, "It was him. It was my man. How are you?"

Trump then threw the clip off to the side of the podium, and it could be heard clanging around on the floor beside him. He then shifted his attention to the contents of the stack of papers behind the podium, lifting it up as he rifled through the pages.

"Each line is something that we did. Nobody did that before. It's big stuff, too," Trump said, calling the United States "the hottest country in the world" before tossing the papers to the ground as reporters in the room laughed at the gesture.

US President Donald Trump says that the US military used a mysterious new weapons system dubbed the “Discombobulator” during the operation to capture then-Venezuelan president Nicholas Maduro in Caracas earlier this month, Trump tells the New York Post.

“The Discombobulator. I’m not allowed to talk about it,” Trump says.

According to Trump, the weapon “made [Venezuela’s] equipment not work,” suggesting that the system was used to disrupt the Venezuelan air defense and radar systems, allowing US forces to carry out the raid with near-impunity.

“They never got their rockets off. They had Russian and Chinese rockets, and they never got one off. We came in, they pressed buttons and nothing worked. They were all set for us,” Trump tells the US news outlet..

                        It gets worse….,

Slovakia’s prime minister told EU leaders at a summit last week that a meeting with Donald Trump left him shocked by the U.S. president’s state of mind, five European diplomats briefed on the conversation said.

Robert Fico, one of the few EU leaders to frequently support Trump’s stance on Europe’s weaknesses, was concerned about the U.S. president’s “psychological state,” two of the diplomats said. Fico used the word “dangerous” to describe how the U.S. president came across during their face-to-face meeting at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Jan. 17, according to two of the diplomats.

The conversation between Fico and his European counterparts took place in Brussels on Jan. 22 on the sidelines of an emergency EU summit arranged to discuss transatlantic relations in the wake of Trump’s threats to seize Greenland. Leaders used that gathering to try to calm tensions after the U.S. president walked back his threat to slap tariffs on some European countries over the issue a day earlier.

All the diplomats were granted anonymity by POLITICO to allow them to discuss the confidential exchanges between leaders. They come from four different EU governments. The fifth is a senior EU official. All of them said they didn’t know the details of what Trump had said to Fico that had triggered his reaction.

Fico denies he said these things.
