Talk about an internet rabbit hole. I went to look up Morrow's Nut House after @adagiom mentioned it in the candy memories thread. There was an Oregon Live article about one of the Morrows re-opening the business online and also selling at a farmer's market around 2010. I think the business closed since then; link to online shop is dead.

    Anyway...

There was also a link to this list of OL's 25 favorite Christmas cookie recipes. Some really good ones!

edit: No paywall version on Yahoo:

    https://www.oregonlive.com/food/2025/12/25-of-our-favorite-christmas-cookie-recipes-including-addictive-cranberry-ecstasy-bars.html

I've bookmarked a bunch. Some are cookies that I've made before, some I've seen recipes for but haven't made, and some were completely new to me.

Just a couple of days ago I ran across my Mom's recipe for rum balls and now I see the same recipe except made with bourbon in the OL recipes.

It's a sign. Time to make booze balls!!

@wtg I love rum balls, bourbon balls as well. Can't read the article, though ... paywall.

@bernard I cheated and used reader mode (called Speedreader in Brave)....oddly, once I was in that mode it let me click on all the links to the recipes, no paywalls.
