A local bike race that draws people from around the country had a category for the nonbinary. I don't know whether there is a solution to this problem, but I like that one. (that is, if I have a correct understanding of what nonbinary means)

        This seems fair to me.

          Trumpism at work.

Trump, who signed the "Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports" order in February, has said he would not allow transgender athletes to compete at the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.
Following Trump's decision, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee also changed its rules accordingly, banning transgender athletes from taking part in women's sports.

The IOC, under new president Kirsty Coventry, did a U-turn in June, deciding to take the lead in setting eligibility criteria for Olympic participation of transgender athletes, having previously handed responsibility to the individual sports federations leading to a confusing patchwork of different approaches.

The IOC has not yet released a decision, although one is expected. No surprise that some are jumping the gun on the decision. So much hating, so little time.

@Steve-Miller Fair? The IOC had a very fair policy. Worth reading...

            https://www.usopc.org/diversity-equity-inclusion/transgender-athlete-participation-in-sport

When considering participation in sport, we rely on fairness as our guiding principle. It is not fair if athletes cannot participate or compete in sport because of their gender identity – participation in sport should be available to everyone. Similarly, it is not fair if an athlete must face unreasonable field of play safety risks or a much-reduced chance for success in competitive sport due to sex-linked physiology – ensuring fairness in sport should be a priority for everyone.

The anti-trans fear mongers aren't interested in fairness. They want absolute abolition of it.

            The industrial revolution cheapened everything.
