The How To Read a Book book

I may be the last person on the planet to have discovered this book (the 2024 novel by Monica Wood), but I highly recommend it.
It's not a gripping intellectual tour de force. It is a very well written, non-saccharine book about personal redemption.

Bonus: a lot of it is set in a parrot cognition lab, modeled after Irene Pepperberg's research, which is fun in and of itself.
