    An American.

    Robert Francis Prevost.

    Pope Leo XIV.

Born in Chicago, which probably means he's a Democrat. 😀

Heh. I suspect he has Vance's number.

Jesus Leon Angeles, coordinator of a Catholic group in Chiclayo who has known Prevost since 2018, called him a "very simple" person who would go out of his way to help others.

Leon Angeles said Prevost had shown special concern for Venezuelan migrants in Peru, saying: "He is a person who likes to help." More than 1.5 million Venezuelans have moved to Peru in recent years, partly to escape their country's economic crisis.

Oh no. Put 'em together in a room and watch Prevost politely chew Vance up and spit him out.

BTW, Prevost looks a tiny bit like the monk on the Augustiner Brau label, which is quite appropriate since he headed the order!

Not sure about that. 20 minutes with Vance and Pope Francis was so consumed with the futility of dealing with that level of stupid that he lost his will to live.

I daresay Pope Leo is stronger but I see no reason to take a chance.

I think I like this guy.

The newly appointed Pope Leo XIV spoke out against Russia's continued war against Ukraine in an interview on May 9.

Speaking with Peruvian news outlet Semanario Expresión, Pope Leo condemned Russia's war against Ukraine, characterizing it as a "a true invasion, imperialist in nature, where Russia seeks to conquer territory for reasons of power.”

Pope Bob has a nice ring to it. Although he spent many formative years in Peru, so maybe it should've been Pope Beto I.
