American allies don’t trust Trump with the intelligence they share.

@wtg said in What the hell is happening in your country?:

      Why should they?

More than half of Americans don't trust Trump. And his administration reneging on all kinds of promises, agreements, grants.... etc. is only going to strengthen the conviction that America cannot be trusted.

If we get out from under this regime, it will be a long hard road to rebuilt any trust, if such a thing is even possible.

Nobody should be sharing intelligence with the US. It will go straight to Moscow ...

I bought the NYT (International Edition) on Friday, attracted by the headlines; Chinese leniency trap, Shakespeare sonnet, and this one:

"Heads Spin in Russia as narrative is transformed"

After years, decades even, of mistrust and fear mongering propaganda, Russian political leaders led by Putin have made a dizzying overnight swing.

They say America has gone from hegemonic egotistical puppeteer to innocent bystander. Apparently you're "not that bad"!

And they blame a European neoliberal elite with its Napoleonic crusading mentality as being the instigator of instability, and seeking Russian destruction.

America is now going to help Russian businesses and with mining. Everyone is going to be wealthy and happy.

However they are struggling somewhat to explain & justify all this when American weapons are killing their soldiers in Ukraine.

(A cracking article filled with pathos and humour)

I think this is the same article that @AndyD referenced. Title is different, but the author and text seem to be the same.
